i keep thinking about the black feathers... they look like they're located mostly towards the back, don't they? i know we have the flamingo, but they're making me think about the TMBTE character (and for me, by extension, Sleep itself). alongside the gems, it's like. depending on how you read it, it's either a tribute to someone who's changed his life forever or a threat

in general my reading of Emergence so far is twofold (funny thing, with the divide and all). there's an underlying theme of accepting that Vessel is forever changed by Sleep and will forever carry a part of it with him, but the rest of it... again, i mean, most of the song reads like a threat/challenge to me. Vessel beckoning Sleep to come out of its hiding and face him. he knows he's powerful now, and he's done with trying to peacefully reconcile ("i am the rose you relinquished again"); he won't tolerate Sleep's bullshit anymore, he wants to fight. whether he can actually do it is something we don't know. i, for one, think this sounds Very similar to a manic episode, but nevertheless. but there is something in the song that also reads like "we were both terrible people to each other, and while i've had the desire and opportunity to recover, i can see you haven't. you may not believe that you can get better, but i do. let me help". honestly, it may well be both; Vessel is known to have a lot of conflicting feelings the bpd king that he is. i suppose only the context of the album will show.

Personally the song in this album that smacked me across the face at first was Abstract (Psychopomp), and I can't believe more people are not going feral over it like I am, look-

i really love the oh hellos and it always makes me kind of sad to see soldier poet king made into trendy quizes and stuff about who's a soldier who's a king or whatever. because it's a really deep song and an important part of the concept album it's a part of, but it gets simplified and taken out of its original context. the soldier, the poet and the king are not separate, they are the same character, the protagonist of the album whose conflict involves struggling to escape from an abusive relationship. soldier poet king is about the protagonist overcoming their abuse, using the second coming of jesus as a metaphor for the return and self-realisation of the protagonist. it is a triumph of the protagonist depicted through biblical symbolism. the soldier, the poet and the king all refer to jesus, and also to the protagonist.

like this song is so deep and meaningful!!! i strongly encourage people who like soldier poet king to listen to the full dear wormwood album and get the context of the rest of the story; soldier poet king is a midpoint in the narrative. and it is a complex and absolutely beautiful narrative.

i like that they view the songs and performance as one because again, the reason im here to begin with is because i wanted to watch cool dancing that fit my taste and they did the trick, and then i loved their music so v much. but i do wish they viewed their music as stand alone too <3 they have intense and intricate dances that they're not gonna be able to do once they hit their later years (if they're still together) so its like -.- look out for our own backs boys, pls
